P&C Newsletter – Term 3, Week 4

Welcome to the first Newsletter for Term 3, and we are already half way through the year. This term is full of events, so lots to get involved in whether volunteering or attending. We hope to see you at some or all of the below!

Firstly I just wanted to show a rough plan of the Outdoor Learning area that is planned for the Paddock area. This has been designed by the Student Representative Council in conjunction with the school exec team and it looks so good. The majority of the fundraising efforts below will be going towards this massive project.

Trivia Night – 8 September

Trivia tickets on sale now, run don’t walk! This is our first ADULTS ONLY fundraiser in quite a few years, whether you are new to the school or you’re about to graduate this is a great chance to mingle with the community and also show off your 80s moves, fashion and knowledge of all things trivia(l)! Even better, NO VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED whoop whoop!

Tickets for this event are very limited and we have already sold half, so please don’t delay. You can purchase a table of 10, or single tickets as preferred.

“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

Pull out your leg warmers, crimpers and hyper colour t-shirts, grab your homies… walk, don’t run… the SCPS P&C 80’s Trivia Night is coming!

Come along and and have a rad night out with your fellow parents, carers and friends at The Juniors Maroubra on Friday 8th September.

Not only will our very own Hayley Kirk be running a totally wicked 80’s based trivia for us all, but we’ll also have a huge silent auction running, a retro chocolate wheel full of fun prizes, and lucky door prizes for best dressed, winning table, and more!

“Nobody puts Baby in a corner”

When the formalities are over, there’ll be an opportunity to let your hair down on the dance floor, and show off your running man, worm and roger rabbit moves to a bitchin’ 80’s mix tape.

Special thanks to our wonderful SCPS P&C for this most excellent evening.

“The question isn’t ‘what are we going to do’, the question is ‘what aren’t we going to do?”

10% of the profits from the Trivia will be donated towards the charity Take Heart Deadly Heart. You can read about this charity in an article by Hayley here: https://www.sydneyswans.com.au/news/1232911/this-brave-heart-this-deadly-heart

If you wish to donate extra funds towards this worthwhile cause, there is the option to do so whilst purchasing tickets.

Silent Auction

More details will be announced in the next week, but we have an amazing silent auction running up to the trivia night. I wont reveal all of the amazing prizes just yet, but here is a taster of what to expect:

Book Parade – 24 August

The fabulous Ms Leal will be at it again hosting the SCPS Annual Book Parade. It is sure to be fun for the kids and spectators alike, and yes this year we will have a COFFEE CART to keep you going!! We will be running a cake stall for this one, so bakers we need you please! We have already had a plethora of amazing baked goods this year, so I can’t wait to see what turns up for this one. A handful of volunteers are also needed on the day, do not fear you will be able to come and go and of course watch your class. This will simply be manning the cake stall and selling coffee tokens.

Fathers Day – 25 August

Fathers’s Day is being celebrated a week earlier than usual this year on the 25th August. This is due to a kindy excursion the following week, we do not want anyone to miss out. We will be holding the traditional BBQ from 7.30am-9am, along with the ever popular coffee cart. The school have then planned open classrooms so that the Dads/Father figures/Special people/Carers can head in to have a look at the kids work and environment.

Again we need some help to cook the BBQ so ladies this is your time to shine on the tongs! Lets show the Dads some love, if anyone could sign up to help cook, serve, take orders etc we would be so appreciative.

Musicale – 14 September

Musicale will be on the 14 September, this will be run by band/music parents and proceeds will be directed back in to the music programme at school. Stand by for more details on this one.

Picture Products

We are thrilled to be able to offer Picture Products this year, again for the first time in a while. The classes are busily creating beautiful artworks, with each child creating a PLATE which can be printed on to melamine if you wish. These artworks last for decades, and we have organised this so they will be ready prior to Christmas if you wish to use them as gifts. Picture Products also have the options to make other items such as water bottles, calendars, tote bags etc. Please note these use different templates so if you wish to make one of these, whilst possible, you have to create the artwork on a different template yourself. They will NOT be done in class.

Lots of students have already completed their artworks – very organised teachers!
