P&C Newsletter – Term 3, week 10 – South Coogee Public School Parents and Community

Firstly my apologies for only releasing two newsletters this term, the P&C have been very busy leading several events and suddenly its week 10! I hope everyone has a great spring school holiday, some ideas for last minute vacation cares are listed below.

Term 3 Events

I wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone that has helped out in Term 3. We had an extremely successful Trivia Night and Auction, the feedback was amazing. I think I am still recovering from being out til midnight! Special thanks to the organising committee – Leane, Melissa, Helen, Jacqui, Jodie, Jenny, Leanne, Jen, Jaime and Rebecka, our decorating assistants – Rachael and Liz, and of course our fabulous quizmaster Hayley, plus assistants Kristin and Emma. Congratulations Team Tina Turner for taking out the win in a closely fought battle!

The Auction was also a closely fought battle, with bids coming in until the last second. We had some amazing donations so please support those businesses and mention SCPS when you do so!

All profits from the trivia and auction will be heading towards the outdoor area in the paddock, which we hope will be completed in term 4.

Our second major event, just last week, was Musicale. The bands, choirs and dancers put on an amazing show as always. Thanks again to all of our helpers, led by Jodie and Melissa. To anyone that put that hand up to help on the cake stall, BBQ, baking, ticketing and shopping we appreciate you! All profits will be directed back in to the performing arts programme.

Finally thank you to everyone who got involved in Book Fair (led by Xanthe), Book Parade (led by Jacqui) and Fathers Day (led by Jodie). Again we had a full roster of people helping out with all of these events and we are so grateful for this. Many volunteers make P&C happy!

This Thursday is MUFTI Day, so please don’t forget to get kitted out in some rad clothes – perhaps neon, hypercolour, double denim, leg warmers, crimping, flower power, flares – so many options!

Term 4 Events

Term 4 is also jam packed with lots of fun things! These are some dates for your diary.

Saturday 14 October – The Voice Referendum voting booth at school

Monday 23 October – Grandparents Day

Tuesday 14 November – Crazy Socks and Hair day – full mufti

Saturday 2 December – Xmas Tree Collection (morning) and Twilight Cinema (evening) – please note this date has changed from 25 November

Wednesday 13 December – Year 6 Graduation Dinner (for Year 6 only)

Christmas Trees and Puddings will be on sale as previous years – stand by for further information!

Twilight Cinema – Saturday 2 December

This year the Twilight Cinema will have a festive twist. We will have some music pre movie, some food stalls, an inflatable… as well as the normal glow toys, gelato, fairy floss, popcorn etc. We are asking the school community if anyone would like a small stall to sell their own products – anything that works for Christmas presents, end of year gifts etc etc. If you have anything in mind please email scps.pandc@gmail.com with your suggestions and we can provide more information. If anyone would like to discuss their company sponsoring this event please also email the above address.
