Welcome to Term 4, the year is flying by and those long Christmas holidays will be here before you know it! Unfortunately no P&C meeting this week due to scheduling issues, we will be back in person in Week 9. Although the year is closing out, we still have a few big events to finish 2023 with a bang.
TWILIGHT CINEMA
The Twilight Cinema is absolutely a crowd favourite at SCPS and this year will be no different. We will be publishing full details including the movie and stalls shortly. In the meantime please save the date – Friday 1st December from 4pm (movie starts at sunset). This years event will have a festive twist, with stalls, more food choices and an inflatable or two.

We are actively looking for stallholders for this event. If you have something you would like to sell, please contact the P&C with details at scps.pandc@gmail.com. We are looking to host a few parent stalls ideally, so if you are crafty or have a business we would love to hear from you.

Christmas Trees
Look I know it’s only October but these trees sell fast! ![]()
Please consider ordering your Christmas tree or pudding on www.yourlocalschool.com.au and a percentage goes back to the school. All trees are available for collection on the morning of the 2 December.
Orders close mid November but in previous years all trees have sold out in the first week so don’t miss out!
Feel free to share, open to all (until sold out!)

Thank you
Thank you to everyone that has already volunteered this year… we have kicked off the year with a couple of fundraising opportunities – the Referendum BBQ and the Grandparents Day Cake Stalls. A massive thanks to everyone that has volunteered their time cooking, serving, shopping and baking. We had some lovely feedback about the school and it’s community from voters and grandparents and it is great that so many people chip in to create such a positive impression. Thank you to you all.

Take Heart Deadly Heart – Heart Foundation Champions for Change
As part of our fundraising target for the Trivia Night and Auction, we pledged to donate 10% of profits to a charity for the Heart Foundation, Champions for Change. This week we presented a cheque for $1130 to Brett and Hayley Kirk on behalf of the charity, which was an amazing result and gratefully received. Of course this also means we made an outstanding amount for the school, over $11,000! This will be donated towards the new outdoor play/learning area for the paddock.

You can read more on the charity here:

ARF primarily affects the heart, joints, and central nervous system. Of these symptoms, the autoimmune cardiac sequelae are the most dreaded for it causes fibrosis of the heart valves, leading to crippling valvular heart disease, heart failure, strokes, endocarditis, and death.
To hear and comprehend this was happening to my child was highly distressing and baffling. To learn that ARF if not treated in time leads to Rheumatic Heart Disease [RHD] which causes permanent damage to the heart was a frightening consideration. ARF results from a throat or skin infection caused by Strep A bacteria and if not managed properly, it can lead to heart failure, disability, and premature death. It is also entirely preventable.
An entirely preventable childhood disease that now barely exists among white Australians but is the leading cause of death in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.
Hope to see you all at our twilight cinema, and end of year P&C celebration.
