P&C Newsletter – Term 3, Week 4

Hello Parents and Carers of SCPS

Week 400 of Term 3 is well underway, hopefully everyone has managed to find their groove with home schooling.  Fingers crossed we are over half way now!

UPCOMING EVENTS

Unfortunately, at this stage all Term 3 events have been cancelled or postponed.

Trivia Night – new date is being negotiated, hopefully the event will be able to proceed in October or November.  Please hold tight for an update, tickets will be rolled over to the new date.

Silver Coin Challenge – cancelled

School camps for Stage 2 and 3 – cancelled

Local Election BBQ – postponed until 4 December

Fiesta – on hold until nearer the time, wait and see!

P&C Meeting

P and C minutes can be viewed here, for the meeting that took place on 28 July.  This includes the Principals and Presidents report.

Next meeting is 7pm on the 25 August, this will take place on Zoom.  This is a great opportunity to engage with the school community and teachers, from the comfort of your home!

OOSH UPDATE

OOSH remains open for families with Essential Workers.  At this time the Government are not providing any financial support so unfortunately fees cannot be waived for non attendance.  OOSH need to maintain their services in order to operate and be available for us when school returns, with all of their staff still employed.  If help becomes available in the future, they can then try to pass this on to families.  If you are in financial need, please contact Jack at OOSH or Angela at the Learning Centre to discuss.

ISO LIFESAVERS

Just a shout out to the companies that helped out the SCPS community over lockdown, and some reminders to support them in return (most are still delivering, others may have stopped now ISO is lifted)

OTHER RESOURCES

I provided a whole heap of resources in the last newsletter, so if you missed it have a read for some lock down inspiration.

Des Renford are still providing their zoom sessions, this will be ongoing to I would suggest ‘liking’ their facebook page for more information.  Zoom link is only provided via the school and is listed below.

NSW Dept of Education are also running some fun live sessions at 10am each day via their Facebook Page – https://www.facebook.com/NSWDepartmentofEducation

Some activities this week have included meeting the cast of Harry Potter and The Cursed Child, Guy Sebastian singing a few tunes, Taronga and Wildlife Sydney Zoo animal sessions and cooking with Manu, Matt Preston and Gary Mehigan.

Finally, as I think the link had some issues on the last newsletter, have a look at the Taronga Live sessions.  You will need to pre register, but they have some fabulous animal encounters happening twice daily during lockdown.

If anyone has any Creative Kids Vouchers lying around unused, lots of places accept them for craft packs – here is a good list to have a look at for inspiration – https://www.ellaslist.com.au/articles/where-you-can-use-your-creative-kids-voucher-to-get-art-and-craft-kits-delivered

Stay safe and well,
