P&C Newsletter – Term 4, Week 9

Hello Parents and Carers of SCPS

Can you believe it is nearly the end of the year already?  2021 has been both the longest and quickest year ever, if that’s possible!

There are a few important dates to keep in your diary for Term 4 and beyond

IMPORTANT DATES

Class presentations and Leadership Day will be happening next week, see below.  All assemblies will be on zoom so tune in 😊

7th December – planned school strike.  Please keep up to date with developments via the official school channels.  Make plans where possible for alternative care, children will still be able to attend for essential workers and those that cannot keep their children home for whatever reason.  There will be very minimal supervision at school, so where children can stay at home this is the best option.

8th December – P&C, please see details below

9th December – Let Loose Day – The school will pay for everyone to join the fun. Led by Be Skilled Be Fit, Let Loose Days have been designed to give students a fun and exciting day to end the year. We have created games and activities in which promote laughter, teamwork and excitement.

15th December – reports get sent home, check those school bags!

THURSDAY 16th December – Last day of school.  Year 6 walk out will be at 1pm from Tucabia Street gate. Please don’t send your kids to school on the Friday 🙂

First Day of School – Tuesday 1st February for Years 1-6

P&C Meeting

Wednesday 8th December – from 7pm

Next P&C meeting, and the final for the year, will be a thank you to everyone that has helped out this year.  We will be holding this IN PERSON hooray!  The P&C meeting will be held at the Southend Hotel (next to Woolworths South Maroubra) in their private room called the Crib.  It is to the back and right hand side as you head in.  Due to current restrictions, vaccination certificates and QR coding in will be required. If you wish to attend please RSVP to the facebook invitation, as capacity is limited.

VACATION CARE

ETHICS

We’re looking for help from some of our wonderful South Coogee Public School parents and grandparents who want to get involved in the classroom and support the school next year.

Ethics classes are run by a fantastic team of volunteer teachers, but post COVID-19, finding volunteers has become increasingly challenging. The program depends on the continuing support of parent and community volunteers and we’re now looking to you, our school community, to help us keep the program available for families who have requested it.

Volunteers don’t need previous teaching experience or a background in philosophy or ethics. You receive comprehensive training and a fully prepared lesson each week. Classes run every Thursday afternoon for 30 minutes.

If teaching ethics is a possibility for you, or someone you know, please email me  l.mulconry@outlook.com  or give me a call on 0438 648 186.

Lyndall Mulconry, Ethics Coordinator at SCPS

LIBRARY DECALS

Just in case anyone missed it, check out the AMAZING art work that has been installed in the library.  The kids must love it, can’t wait to go and see it.

That’s a wrap for now, have a wonderful holiday, if anyone wants to be more involved in the P&C next year please check out some of the roles available: https://southcoogeepublicpandc.org.au/executive-committee/
