Hello Parents and Carers of SCPS

Please see some updates from your P&C, officially half way through Term 2 and the year is flying!

  • Saturday 4th June

We are looking for volunteers for to assist with the initial preparation for the removal and revamp of the outdoor kitchen area.  This area will eventually be used for food tech lessons, but needs a big renovation first (for which we have a grant)

From 9am we are wanting volunteers for tasks such as removal of kitchen benches, fridges and cleaning area for the trades to start work.

We are also looking for trade (paid!) to help out – so if any electricians, plumbers, roofers, outdoor tilers etc in the group please reach out to us via scps.pandc@scpspc

  • Wednesday 8th June 7pm

P&C meeting will be held via Zoom, and in person at the school library for anyone that would like to join.  If you have anything you would like to add to the Agenda please email scps.pandc@gmail.com

Future Fundraising Events:

Silver Coin Challenge will happen sometime in Term 2

Twilight Cinema hopefully will finally happen in October – date TBC

The Year 6 Fundraising team held a very successful election day BBQ, raising over $3000 towards the graduation event.  Special thanks goes out to Bunnings Eastgardens for their donation of a brand new BBQ, and to Bakers Delight Pacific Square for their discounted bread rolls.  Thanks also to all of the parents and children who helped out on the day, or baked, or prepped especially Nikki Goldsmith who led the efforts.

Many of you will have seen the amazing grounds work going on at the school.  So far we have:

• Netball and Basketball areas resurfaced – completed.

• Asphalt resurfacing for the entire driveway from Tucabia St to the walkway – completed.

• Asphalt repair near the building entrance near the chessboard – completed.

• A patching and painting of the old ‘river room’ – completed.

• The Kinder quadrangle synthetically turfed – almost completed.

• Some classrooms carpet & vinyl replaced – small repairs to finish.

• OOSH & SCLC carpet & vinyl replaced – completed.

• Renovation of infant’s toilet – waiting to start.

• Renovation for staff toilets in office – waiting to start.

Some Wish List items have already been ticked off for the year, with the P&C donating the funds for the teachers tea and coffee for the year, $200 per teacher for supplies for the classroom such as stickers, rewards, décor whatever they like.  The literacy donation has also been made for an initial $5000.  Future fundraising will focus on securing more chromebooks for the school, the sensory path upgrade and ethics training.  We are also hoping to upgrade the technology for the zoom assemblies so that the audio is bearable!

The school is currently running very short on IPAD chargers, we are missing about 30 from covid lending and general breakages and losses.  If anyone has the standard lightening cable chargers lying around used please consider donating to the school for our charging stations.  They can be sent in to the office 😊

Enrolments for 2023 have commenced, the school is looking at building on capacity and will be hosting an open day for all (in addition to the kindy orientation) to show off our fabulous school.  Mrs Fisher would love to speak to a graphics expert to assist in designing a poster to advertise this to the wider community.

Congratulations to all of the Zone Cross Country runners, who secured SCPS 1st place in the Eastern Suburbs PSSA Zone Cross Country carnival.

Hope to see you all either in person or virtually at the P&C
