Helloo everyone!
We’ve got a lot going on at the moment, so let’s get into it.
P&C MEETING – Wednesday 31st August, 7pm
P&C meeting this week in person and via zoom! Join us in the library or online to hear about what’s going on in and around SCPS! Drinks and snacks provided if you join us in the library!
MUSICALE – Thursday 1st September, 5.30pm
Musicale is coming up this Thursday evening, and we are so excited to see our budding performers get on stage for the first time in a couple of years!
Gold coin donation entry, with proceeds going to the SCPS Band Program. As an exciting new concept, our senior band performers will also be ‘busking’ around the COLA area, with their hats out! Please bring extra coins to reward them for their efforts!
(and no they won’t be keeping the loot, all proceeds from busking also going to band program 😆 )
There will be a BBQ and Treat Stall from 5.30pm, EFTPOS will be available here as well as Cash too. If you are able to bring treats for the stall, please drop off at staff room before school, or at the hall post 3pm with thanks!
We’re still looking for volunteers – performers parents we’re looking at YOU! (although, we’re not fussy and will take anyone!). Please sign up HERE – https://signup.com/go/SdpvWub

FATHER’S DAY BREAKFAST – Thursday 8th September, 7.30am
The SCPS P&C Father’s Day BBQ Breakfast is on again Thursday 8th September from 7.30am – 9am, in the COLA in front of the hall. Entry Tucabia Street.
Please come early to avoid disappointment as the line gets very busy from about 8.15am onwards.
We are hoping to secure a coffee cart to be onsite again, but this is TBA.
All fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father figures and carers in your life are welcome!
If you are able to volunteer, please register via the below link, we are still looking for helpers, with thanks: https://signup.com/go/AKZNDGs

SCPS NEON DISCO – Friday 9th September, 5.30pm
Come along and enjoy our Neon Disco Party – let your kids enjoy the neon lights and disco vibes on Friday September 9th at SCPS! All current SCPS K-6 students welcome.
Parents/carers are welcome to stay, but you’re also welcome to drop and go. There will be plenty of adult supervision both in the hall and outside, and at the end of the night no child will be allowed to leave the school property without an adult accompanying them (so make sure you come back to pick them up!)
Please pre-purchase where you can to help us plan, however there will be light up toys, treats and a few extra sausages available for cash and EFT on the night.
There will be LIMITED DOOR SALES ONLY, so please don’t make us the bad guys on the night, and ensure you pre-purchase your entry tickets and BBQ. This helps us know which kids are on school property should we need to – we will be checking everyone in on arrival against the pre-sales. It also assists with our policy of reduced waster with leftover food etc.
All proceeds go towards the Y6 Graduation Funds. Thank you to the Y6 parents, carers and students for putting this event on!

TWILIGHT CINEMA – Friday 21st October
The Twilight Cinema is back! We are so excited to be bringing you another amazing family fun night, featuring the movie SING 2! Look out for more details to come in the next few weeks.
A HUGE thanks to our amazing Platinum Sponsor – Cameron Airlie from NG Farah. We are so grateful for your support.

BOOK FAIR
A massive thank you to everyone who came and supported our Book Fair last week!
I know we say this every year, but this was the biggest book fair ever – $7,250 in total sales resulting in a whopping $2,175 in rewards for the library to purchase new books via Scholastic. AMAZING!
I would like to personally thank in glittering light Katja Klikauer who has diligently and expertly run the Book Fair now for a number of years. Katja, thank you so much for your dedication and support of the school. It is so appreciated!
This is Katja’s last year at SCPS, so we are looking for a legend to take on this role. If you would like to know more, please contact scps.pandc@gmail.com
EXTENDING THE SCHOOL DAY SURVEY
Extending the school day- the Department of Education wants to hear from parents and carers.
Do you think that the current school day matches the needs of parents and carers juggling work commitments in the 21st century? The NSW Department of Education wants to hear from parents and carers on how access to schools, outside of standard school hours, can better support families and students. They are asking NSW public school parents and carers to participate in a survey which will be open until 5 October 2022.
Nine schools across NSW are trialling the benefits of extending the school day as part of a research pilot, with initial reports indicating positive experiences for schools, students and their families. Read more
P&C Federation co-hosted with the Department a webinar discussing this survey and the work being done in the flexible school hours pilot. View webinar recording
